The Rea-Patterson Milling Company of Coffeyville, Kansas (later the Bartlett Flour Mill) was established in 1894, and became one of the largest flour milling operations in Southern Kansas. The company's founder was P. H. Rea, who was born in Carroll County, Missouri in 1840. In 1894, his son Edward S. Rea became bookkeeper of the company, and in 1896 became its manager and treasurer.
